Qualifying for enrollment for CoverKids is based on a household income of up to 250% of the federal poverty level (FPL), the number of persons in the household and also on the age of the child you wish to enroll. Household income includes income earned and income received.

Children in families with a household income greater than 250% FPL may buy into the CoverKids plan. Effective January 1, 2013, the premiums for children over 250% start at $294 up to $375 per month per child.

"Persons in household" refers to the immediate family members that reside in the household, including the applicant, such as parents or guardians and siblings. The income considered is the income that is received that supports this family unit. A pregnant woman should also include the number of expected babies when determining "persons in household."
